Courtney’s Version…

Jordan and Courtney met at Lindenwood University-Belleville. At the time, Courtney was finishing up her studies for undergraduate school, and Jordan was actually still in high school.

(Cue the “cougar” & “robbing the cradle” jokes)

They bonded over their love of basketball (but definitely not the same team) and became friends through a mutual friend (or more like a brother to Jordan) named Nick.

While they remained friends year after year, there was always a little “something” between them. A couple of times they began to venture down the road to a relationship, but it always seemed like the timing just wasn’t right. They remained friends… until 2020 rolled around.

This was the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, Courtney lived in an apartment that was about 30 seconds from Jordan’s house. With nothing to do while quarantining & working from home, Courtney and Jordan rekindled their “friendship.” They began hanging out and spending time together. Over the next few months, the tiny spark finally turned into a full blown flame. By the end of 2020, it was no mystery anymore that the two were supposed to be together. It’s been nothing but love & laughter ever since… Well, except when Duke lost to UNC in the Final Four game in 2022, and we weren’t sure if Jordan was going to survive the night. . . Or when the two are arguing about how to put up the Christmas tree & Christmas lights…But other than that, YEP!

On February 11, 2023, Jordan pulled off the ultimate surprise. Courtney had been busy planning a dance at her school, along with the other stressors that come from teaching. It was the perfect distraction for Jordan’s plan. With the help of both sides of the family and actual birthdays coming up, Jordan was able to trick Courtney into thinking she was attending a birthday party for both of her parents. While at the house waiting for things to get going, Jordan gave Courtney a “late Christmas gift,” which she truly believed was a RING doorbell.

It was a RING alright— the one ring that she had always dreamed of. The one ring to rule them all….. oh wait, wrong story (Lord of the Rings/ The Hobbit reference). Courtney may have said “NO” to crossing over to being a North Carolina Tar Heel fan (she’s a Duke fan), but she said “YES” without a doubt to spending forever with Jordan. The two cannot wait to celebrate with all of their friends and family in January 2024.

Jordan’s Version…

Court walked into the baby nursery. She stopped and took a look at Jordan in his crib so cute and peaceful. She pointed to him and said, “Yep, I want that one.”

From that moment on, Court knew that she had chosen the “Cougar” lifestyle. How appropriate that she ended up teaching at a school whose mascot is the COUGARS! Must be a sign!
