“We both worked for Athletes in Action (AIA), a college athletic ministry organization. We became Facebook friends as we had a lot of mutual friends through AIA. We both attended a bi-annual all staff conference in Xenia, OH in the Spring of 2018. Despite being at the same conference and even sitting in the same small breakout room, we failed to meet each other in person at the conference.

Our story of love starts about three months before we began to pursue each other. We both had a desire for a spouse. Matt began praying every day starting in the middle of January asking God that the year of 2019 would be the year that he would meet and begin dating his future wife. Matt prayed that prayer everyday until the end of April. On April 21, 2019, Matt sent his first message to Kryssi and it said “Happy Resurrection Day” as the 21st of April was the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. We began to exchange messages on Instagram for a few days before Matt offered Kryssi his number to see if anything was to come of this. Kryssi responded by giving Matt her number and telling him to take the lead in this if something was to come between them.

Matt sent Kryssi a text message and the rest is history as they say. We talked for a month before both attending Ultimate Training Camp in CO with AIA at the end of May. We began dating on May 22 while at Camp. We have done long distance for the entirety of our relationship. We have put many miles on our cars to spend weekends with each other.

Our dating relationship changed to being an engaged couple on November 24 in front of Foster Auditorium on the campus of The University of Alabama when Kryssi said “HECK YES” when Matt asked her to be his wife. We are so thankful for God’s faithfulness to us and His leading in our relationship. We can’t wait to exchange our “I DO’s” on May 24, 2020 and begin living our lives together and see what else God has in store for us!”
